Greg's Support Site E-Mail Count on Log on Screen wrong - Windows XP
Download and install TweakUI for XP

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Once downloaded, run the program and install it.

Once Installed explore your start menu and launch Tweakui

You will be presented with the screen as shown:

Selct the " + " next to Logon, and select "Unread Mail"  the following screen will be shown:

Ensure that "Show unread mail on Welcome screen is "NOT" checked.

Click "Apply" then "OK".
